Beard Washing 101

Tera - January 14, 2024

You may have your beard styling routine down, but do you know there are best practices when it comes to how you wash your beard? From how often to what type of wash to even the water temperature you are using? If beard growth and health are important to you, let’s take a look into why these steps matter.

No two beards are alike, so there is no perfect single answer as to how often you should wash your beard. Recommendations range from 2-3 times a week to daily. This can be more or less for you based on what type of lifestyle you lead. If you work outdoors or are sweating at the gym, you’ll probably need to wash more often than most. However, if you are working an office job or have little to no activity you may be able to get away with washing every other day. Washing too much sometimes can starve your beard of the sebum oil it naturally produces and can result in itchy, dry skin and possibly dandruff or even split ends. Using beard oil and butter can help to return balance, but determining the best wash routine for your beard and using a pH balanced and gentle wash will set your beard up for the most benefits.

Knowing how to wash is the next step in perfecting your routine. Using the correct water temperature can help reduce frizz and enhance your beards natural shine. Warm water to start will help open pores and allow your wash to clear away buildup and excess oils. Cool water to rinse helps to seal the hairs cuticle and lock in moisture, deters tangles and keeps split ends at bay to encourage healthy growth.

Our best selling Wicked Clean Beard Wash and Conditioner are pH balanced and gentle enough to be used every day without stripping your beard of its natural oils. No synthetics, perfumes, preservatives, or harmful chemicals leaving your beard soft and clean!
