About Our Blends
Our Beard Oils, Butters, and Balms were a labor of love. We have chosen the blends we use because we truly believe they deliver the best results but also the best value available. We use the highest quality carrier oils that are always cold-pressed when available. Cold-pressing involves crushing and pressing to produce the oils, which means no heat or chemicals are uses in order to retain maximum nutrients. We also use the highest quality essential oils and skin safe fragrance oils. Our soaps, washes, conditioners, and fragrances are also SLS/SLES, phthalate, and paraben free. Cruelty free too!
Shea Nut Oil (cold pressed) - Extracted from the nut of the shea tree found in tropical regions of Africa, this dark to golden colored oil is used in various hair care products. It is valued for its abilities to restore and seal moisture, decrease dreaded frizz, eliminate dandruff, and prevent the loss of nutrients. The application of shea nut oil to the roots helps to add volume to the hair while styling.
Golden Jojoba Oil - Produced in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis plant, a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. Unrefined jojoba oil appears as a clear golden liquid at room temperature with a slightly nutty odor. Jojoba oil isn't a moisturizer itself; it seals in moisture. It actually preserves and seals in hair shaft moisture. It is non comedogenic.
Argan Oil - Argan Oil is derived from the kernels of the argan tree. Moisturizes, adds shine, protects hair, protects from breakage and increases elasticity. Helps protect hair from mechanical stress which means it stays looking healthy. The composition of argan oil may help to keep your hair healthy, even with hair styling and using heat tools.
Fractionated Coconut Oil (certified organic) - An ideal carrier oil for essential oils for several reasons: It blends well. When you combine fractionated coconut oil with essential oils, they mix well, making for even distribution. Dilutes the oil. A little goes a long way with highly concentrated essential oils. A carrier oil can dilute them (in a good way) so that they are gentler on the skin yet still offer all the benefits. Enhance the effects of essential oils. Fractionated coconut oil is packed with nutrients, and has significant moisturizing abilities, so it can help enhance the effects of the essential oil you’ve chosen to use. Fractionated coconut oil sinks into your skin quickly and is less likely to clog your pores than normal coconut oil.
Sweet Almond Oil (cold pressed) - Almond oil is produced by ripe almonds - typically sweet almonds. We choose to use unrefined sweet almond oil, which means extraction by pressing which produces a superior oil rather than using a heat and chemical extraction process. Almond oils is fantastic for skin health, promotes hair growth, and has antibacterial properties. It also contains a substantial amount of the vitamin B7, or biotin which can promote hair growth.
Avocado Oil - Avocado oil is a fantastic source of omega-rich oils and antioxidants for healthy hair. Full of bio-active phytochemicals, including vitamin E tocopherols, vitamin D, and carotenoids (lutein and beta carotene) that defend hair from UV damage, environmental aggressors, and pollutants that can make hair feel dry and look brittle. Rich in oleic acid and monounsaturated fats gives avocado oil the ability to penetrate deep into the hair shaft.
Grape Seed Oil (cold pressed) - A lightweight oil that is extracted from the seeds of grapes and penetrates the skin quickly. It is rich in many other advantageous compounds, including beta-carotene, vitamins D, C, E, and polyphenols that have excellent antioxidant abilities making it a strong source of antioxidant benefits, including free radical scavenging and protection from environmental aggressors such as UV radiation or pollution. Virgin organic grapeseed oil contains linoleic acid and plenty of antioxidants. It is non-comedogenic, meaning it does not clog pores and works well with other natural oils like avocado, almond, and jojoba.
Vitamin E - A potent scalp antioxidant and hair hydrator that stimulates hair growth and increases hair strength/shine. Vasodilation and vasoconstriction properties meaning increased blood flow which encourages hair growth. The natural antioxidants in Vitamin E may help with maintaining hair growth by preventing the breakdown of existing hair follicles.
Shea Butter - Derived from the nuts of the African shea tree. This hydrator offers moisturizing and softening benefits as well as protection to the hair shaft. Thick, coarse, dry, or damaged hair will love this nourishing butter.
Coconut Oil - This multitasking hydrating oil not only moisturizes but may strengthen the hair as well. Extremely dry and/or curly hair will most benefit from using coconut oil. It is packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids along with vitamin E, making it an ideal ingredient for treating dry hair.
Beeswax (organic) - Beeswax is made by worker honeybees and is the natural wax that makes up the structure of the honeycomb. Moisturizing, barrier-creating, with antibacterial properties, it moisturizes and seals the hair, smoothes flyaways, and assists with hair growth.

It’s smooth, cozy, and wears incredibly well. The oil performs exactly how it should—absorbs fast and leaves my beard feeling healthy and conditioned. This one feels like winter nights, leather gloves, and a little festive indulgence all in one.

It’s comforting, masculine, and just plain relaxing. As always, the oil works flawlessly—lightweight, absorbs fast, and leaves my beard feeling soft and nourished. This is an evening scent done right, the kind you reach for when you want to unwind.
Mack Frost beard oil is a wild but perfectly balanced blend—candied oud brings depth, truckstop cranberry adds that bold sweet-tart punch, and the orange juice brightens everything up. It’s unique, addictive, and somehow works way better than it has any right to. The new oil blend is a clear upgrade too—lighter, smoother, and even better in-beard than the OG, which I didn’t think was possible. This one stands out in the best way and keeps me reaching for it again.
Hotel California from True North Beard Co is a clean, masculine, cologne-style scent that’s clearly well done—it’s just not my personal jam. That said, the oil itself performs exactly how I expect from True North: smooth consistency, absorbs fast, and leaves my beard feeling healthy and conditioned all day. If you’re into fresh, classic cologne scents, this one will likely be a hit. Even though the scent isn’t for me, the quality is absolutely there.

The carrier blend does what True North always does best: lightweight, absorbs fast, and leaves my beard feeling soft and healthy all day. This one puts a smile on your face every time you catch a whiff—fun scent, serious performance.
Mr. Plow hits cold and clean right away with an iced citrus note that feels sharp and refreshing, then settles into smooth mahogany woods for balance and depth. A great choice when you want fresh with a solid, masculine backbone.

This one proves apple scents can be more than just fresh — they can be deep too.

If sugary scents aren’t your thing, enter at your own risk — this one doesn’t hold back. The OG butter keeps the beard soft, conditioned, and controlled while the scent brings straight candy-shop vibes. Bold, playful, and exactly what it sets out to be.
Gratitude is smooth and comforting from the first drop. Chestnut and woods set a solid, earthy base, while caramel and vanilla add just enough warmth and sweetness to round it out. Nothing loud, nothing cloying — just a well-balanced, cozy scent that feels easy to wear. The oil leaves my beard soft, healthy, and comfortable all day. A great reach when you want something familiar but elevated.
Cherry Crush leans dark and rich right out of the gate. The blend of dark cherry, raspberry, and black plum comes across smooth and slightly sultry, not syrupy or candy-like. It’s a bold fruit profile with depth, and the oil leaves my beard feeling conditioned, soft, and healthy without any greasy finish. If you like fruit scents with a darker edge, this one delivers.
Blue Slush is pure nostalgia. The raspberry note is bright and sweet, paired with a cool, icy edge that actually feels refreshing instead of artificial. The OG butter goes to work keeping the beard soft and controlled while the scent stays fun and upbeat without overstaying its welcome. If you grew up on blue slushies, this one’s an instant win.
This papaya hits different. The Ancient Papaya Nectar scent has real depth you don’t usually get with tropical profiles — rich, smooth, and not just bright or sugary. The OG butter is nourishing without feeling heavy, leaving my beard soft, controlled, and comfortable all day. If you think tropical scents are one-note, Antigua will change your mind.
Great smell. Love how it makes my beard feel.
