What do you recommend I use in my daily beard care routine? Your beard care routine is as unique as you. There is no one right way to follow, it's a matter of finding what works best for you that you can stick to and see results! We always recommend starting with a Beard Oil as the most basic form of beard care, but if you need more help please email us! We love to talk about beard care and would love to help tailor a routine that works best for you!

How do I use your products? Our products were carefully created and tested (only on humans!) to promote healthy hair and skin. You can find how to use instructions on each product as well as more detailed instructions here on our site on each product page. We strongly suggest the less is more approach. You can always dial it up and add more, but a little goes a long way with True North Co. products. Start with a couple drops, or a pea sized amount and slowly add more as needed based on length and thickness.

Balm, Butter, Oil...what's the difference? All beards need moisture, some more than others. Some beards require more specific care. Here's the breakdown:

  • Beard Oil should be used as a daily light weight moisturizer at the roots aka your follicle. This keeps the skin under your beard happy. Happy skin means a healthy beard. We recommend you use your Beard Oil daily.
  • Beard Butter should be used as a light/medium moisturizing treatment for your hair. We like to use it overnight to allow it to sink in and really soften those whiskers but you can use it in your daytime routine as well. We recommend using Beard Butter consistently to your liking, but every day is not necessary.
  • Beard Balm is for those looking to add moisture while sculpting and styling during the day. Our Balm is a light/medium hold that will keep flyaways in line.

My Beard Butter/Balm melted, what should I do? Don't worry, a melted Butter or Balm can be saved. The consistency may change slightly, but it will still work just as well. Just pop it into your refrigerator (1 hr) or freezer (30 min) to help bring it back to its original form.

Who can use our products? While we are a beard company, we encourage ANYONE to try our products! Your oil, balm, soap, butter, etc. don't know your age, race, gender, or even if you have a beard. Our products can be used in many different ways and can serve different purposes that we may not have even thought of yet. That's the beauty of using all natural products. Just avoid your eyes. And definitely don't eat them. 

My Butter/Balm feels gritty, is it ok to use? Definitely. Using all natural products can sometimes mean small inconsistencies. No two snowflakes are the same in nature and sometimes our products can look or feel different due to many different circumstances outside of our control. Give your Butter/Balm a moment to warm up between your fingers before you apply it and it should be smooth sailing!
